The state enterprise International Poultry Testing (MTD) Ústrašice was established on 2 July, 1992 by the founding deed of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic (MZe CR) from 25 June, 1992, adapted according to the Act No. 77/1997 Coll. by the decision of MZe CR made on 25 November 1997.
The basic scope of activity of the enterprise established thereby, based on the authorization by MZe CR, is the implementing of performance tests in poultry in compliance with the Act No. 154/2000 Coll. on animal breeding, selective breeding and records of livestock. MTD Ústrašice is the only facility in the Czech Republic which can carry out performance tests for all the poultry species, regulated by the Decree No. 471/2000 Coll. of the Act. On the basis of test results, certificates on poultry performance are issued and female and male breeding birds are permitted to be used for further breeding in certified flocks. Test results are also publicized to be available for all poultry producers and professionals.
Since 1995 the enterprise has been providing for central poultry recording. Recently, the Czech-Moravian Breeders´ Association has been authorized to carry out the central recording for all the livestock species and MTD Ústrašice has become a contractual provider of the central poultry recording for them. This is regulated by the Act No. 154/2000 Coll. and Decree No. 136/2004 Coll. and the purpose is to inform the relevant authorities and poultry producers on the development trends in numbers and performance of poultry in the Czech Republic.
In October 2006 MTD Ústrašice received the feed mill in Lysá nad Labem from the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture (ÚKZÚZ) Brno. In the feed mill experimental diets for MTD Ústrašice are preferentially manufactured, in total approximately 400 tonnes per year.
For many years the enterprise have been involved in the programme of slow growing chick production. The enterprise provide for the production of day old chicks of slow growing hybrids. The enterprise have been collaborating with the poultry abattoir Vodňanské kuře, s.r.o. and with about 20 broiler producers.
MTD Ústrašice has sufficient staff with relevant qualification, skill and experience to provide for the above-mentioned tasks. The enterprise has 47 employees in total, with 14 administrative employees (8 university educated, 8 with diploma, 5 with completed secondary education specialized in the relevant field).
